The Fashion Revolution Week 2021 took place from April 19th to 25th, 2021! The reason for this was the factory collapse on April 24, 2013, in which more than 1,000 people died and another 2,500 were injured. Many global fast fashion labels have had their clothes sewn there. This catastrophe made visible to the whole world the inhumane conditions under which the seamstresses have to work.
Since then, the victims have been commemorated as part of Fashion Revolution Week. We also want to draw attention to the fact that a lot still has to change in the fashion industry.
We cannot continue to extract dwindling resources from an already stressed environment, pollute our land and oceans, fall far short of climate change goals, and dump our waste on the shoulders of countries we have culturally exhausted. Nor can we continue to allow large corporations to benefit while supply chain workers struggle to live with dignity.
We believe we need a radical shift in how we relate – our relationships with each other, with our clothes, within the fashion supply chain and with the environment. We need this revolution for our own prosperity and well-being, and for the health of our planet and our oceans.
And it's already beginning - that too will become clear during this week.
In addition to sustainable production through upcycling, it is part of the limo philosophy to produce fairly along the value chain. The basic material for the limo products are discarded men's shirts from well-known German manufacturers. Sustainability and transparency of the supply chain are also very important to them. For example, OLYMP has made the entire supply chain visible on the company website. limo only produces each piece of clothing after the order has been received and thus creates a unique item for each customer.
In this way, limo makes a small contribution to producing sustainable fashion under fair conditions.
And we're not alone - many other brands have started the revolution.
Help by shopping consciously.
Together we can make the fashion industry sustainable and fair!
